Posted: 10 Jun 2016 12:00 AM PDT All eyes were firmly on Kate last night as she welcomed special guests including Olympics athletes to a glittering banquet for SportsAid at Kensington Palace. But while she won plaudits for her elegant Roland Mouret dress, it was her Cartier earrings that really stole the show - a set never seen before on the Duchess, and which have been valued at upwards of £30,000. Onlookers were dazzled by the Tricolour Gold Trinity earrings, which are made up of white, yellow and rose gold hoops studded with diamonds - and rightly so. Scroll down for video Kate wore a pair of Cartier Diamond Tricolour Gold Trinity Hoops valued at around £30,000 on Thursday night Made from 18-carat gold and adorned with diamonds amounting to 7.35 carats, it's safe to say they are firmly out of reach for your average jewellery lover. But Kate is far from a style trailblazer; more than six years ago, Cameron Diaz wore the exact same pair on the 2010 Oscars red carpet. While they are no longer available to buy from the luxury jeweller, one pair is on sale on antiques and jewellery retail site 1stDibs for £33,200, with similar styles from Cartier costing around £32,500. However, Emma Begent-Cove believes the sold-out earrings could now be worth far more. The Duchess's earrings are made up of white, yellow and rose gold hoops studded with diamonds Rock Kate's royal blue Roland Mouret gownThe Duchess of Cambridge attended a dinner at Kensington Palace to celebrate 40 years of Sports Aid wearing a royal blue cut-out gown by French fashion designer Roland Mouret this evening. We're used to seeing the Duchess of Cambridge re-wearing classic pieces from her wardrobe, especially when it comes to eveningwear. But not only was this a new look we haven't seen her wear previously, but it's also a move away from her usual style. Featuring a cold shoulder cut-out design, body-contouring fit, and exposed zip back, this dress has all the hallmarks of a Roland Mouret design, a brand Kate has only worn on only a couple of occasions before. A riff on the Bardot neckline we've been seeing for a couple of seasons now, cold shoulder cut-outs are big for SS16, so this dress is perfect if you're after a directional eveningwear dress for a big event! The good news this dress available to buy online at Neiman Marcus! Follow the link on the right to steal Kate's style now, or recreate the look for less with one of the options we've lined up in the carousel below. Style with black sandals and a clutch like Kate for a chic look that will have all eyes on you! ...NOW GET ONE LIKE IT FOR LESS While the Cartier hoops are no longer available to buy from luxury jeweller, one pair is on sale on jewellery auction site 1stDibs for £33,200 and similar styles cost around £32,500 'Such a beautifully crafted pair of earrings from a brand as respected and distinguished as Cartier could easily be worth anywhere between £80,000-100,000,' the WatchShop.com jewellery buyer and merchandiser tells MailOnline. What's more, she believes the 'multi-coloured' trend is gathering momentum. 'I think the popularity on the red carpet is down to being able to mix and match,' she explains. For example, you could wear a silver ring and a rose gold arm cuff which is still in keeping with the rest of your jewellery.' However, one jewellery expert goes one step further - valuing them at more than three times that amount. One of the few other sightings of the earrings was more than six years ago, on the 2010 Oscars red carpet - as modelled by Cameron Diaz, an actress with a reported net worth of more than $100 million (£69 million) Duchess, she has worn a similar piece from Cartier's Trinity collection before; a pendant necklace that she chose for the opening of an Olympics-themed photography exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in 2012 'I would estimate them to be in excess of £300,000,' says Sonia Menezes from Clogau Gold. 'Diamond hoops are perfect for making a bold style statement while maintaining a glamorous and polished finish, essential for red carpet events. 'We've seen The Duchess wearing gorgeous hoop earrings on another occasion; blue topaz and diamond hoops by Kiki McDonough also looked fabulous on her. Hoops are timeless and particularly on trend for summer 2016.' Despite last night being their first outing for the Duchess, she has worn a similar piece from Cartier's Trinity collection before; a pendant necklace that she chose for the opening of an Olympics-themed photography exhibition at London's National Portrait Gallery in July 2012. The Duchess apparently thought the necklace - which may well be a companion piece to the earrings - the perfect tribute to the London Olympics Games. According to royal aides, the white, yellow and rose gold necklace had been part of the Duchess's private collection for 'a while'. Although it was not specifically designed for the Games, Kate thought it was 'appropriate' to wear to the exhibition, called The Road To 2012: Aiming High. A St James's Palace spokesman said: 'It's a personal piece which she's had for some time. It's not an official Olympic item but it's appropriate to wear it.' MailOnline has contacted Kensington Palace for comment. |

Zendaya also took to the 'gram before hitting the red carpet, teasing the look with a photo of only her red hair. Although not nominated for an Emmy this year, she's taken home trophies at the Teen Choice Awards and People's Choice Awards for her role in Spider-Man: Far from Home. And Zendaya's red carpet look was certainly award worthy, with everything from her hair to her ensemble to her makeup screaming glamour. Her makeup look for the evening was created by beauty pro Sheika Daley, who used products from Lancome in order to get the starlet ready for the evening - an apt choice given that Zendaya was named as the brand's newest ambassador earlier this year. 'Zendaya's Emmys look was inspired by old Hollywood glam with a fresh, new and modern twist,' a statement from the brand explained. Holy couture, Batman! To create the glowy skin, Sheika prepped the skin with the Lancôme Eau Fraiche Douceur Micellar Cleansing Water, the Absolue Revitalizing & Brightening Soft Cream, and the Renergie Lift Multi-Action Eye Cream. Then, the complexion was primed with the La Base Pro and the Teint Idole Ultra Wear Blur & Go Priming Stick, which was applied only to areas that needed extra coverage. Coverage came in the form of the Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Foundation, and the Teint Idole Ultra Foundation Stick and Camouflage Concealer. To add definition and depth to the look, Sheika used the Lancome Click and Glow Liquid Highlighter on the high points of the face, and added a flush to the skin with the Blush Subtil and the Star Bronzer. Three shades of the Lancome Color Design Eye Shadows were used on the eyes, as well as the Grandiose Liner and the Monsieur Big Mascara to really make the look pop. |
Posted: 06 Jul 2019 12:00 AM PDT Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, seventh in line to the Throne, was – finally – presented to the world at his christening yesterday. Exactly two months after he was born, he was pictured sitting on the lap of his mother, the Duchess of Sussex, as she nestled into the shoulder of his father, the Duke of Sussex. The image, shot against the opulence of Windsor Castle's Green Drawing Room, was one of warmth and family joy. Archie will not be taking an HRH title at the request of his parents but he did, however, enjoy all the trappings of a Royal christening. This official christening photograph released by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shows the Duke and Duchess with their son, Archie and (left to right) the Duchess of Cornwall, The Prince of Wales, Ms Doria Ragland, Princess Diana's sisters Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, The Duke of Cambridge and The Duchess of Cambridge in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle Finally baby Archie's face is revealed! The stunning snap shows off the adorable royal, with the little boy being held by mother Meghan Markle. It is just the third photograph of Archie Harrison and reveals a hint of ginger in the two-month-old's hair He was wearing the cascading ivory Honiton lace and satin gown used for all Royal babies' baptisms since the reign of Queen Victoria. The one Archie wore is a 2008 copy of the 1841 original, and was handmade by the Queen's dresser Angela Kelly. The ceremony was performed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, using the silver gilt Lily Font. Commissioned in 1840 by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert for the birth of their first child, it is part of the Crown Jewels and had been brought from the Tower of London for the occasion. The water which filled the font was taken from the River Jordan. The brief service took place in the Queen's own private chapel in the Upper Ward of Windsor Chapel. Since the arrival of Archie, the country has had only tantalising glimpses of his feet and part of his face. But yesterday afternoon, his proud parents uploaded two photos to mark his baptism to their Instagram account. A second shot in black-and-white shows Meghan dressed in white gazing into Harry's eyes as she cradles baby Archie and her proud husband looks at their baby son. Windsor castle's Rose Garden can be seen in the background Keep it classic like the Duchess of Sussex in DiorWe've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor's christening and now we can finally pore over photos from the big day! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared a portrait to their Instagram account, giving the world a sneak peek at the family members and fashion present for the ceremony. And while the Duchess of Cambridge recycled a beautiful Stella McCartney dress (one she's had since 2009!), Meghan opted for a sleek and chic gown by Dior. Unsurprisingly, the dress features Meghan's go-to boat-neck cut! Her bridal gown had a similar neckline, along with many dresses she's worn since the big day. This one is also designed with a fit-and-flare silhouette and three-quarter sleeves. This frock is a bespoke piece, although we've seen plenty of similar iterations of this frock march down the Dior runway. The stylish royal then finished off her look with Cartier earrings and Dior nude pumps. If you're feeling inspired, why not give a nod to Meghan's look with the timeless and elegant options we've found from Gabriela Hearst, Ralph Lauren, Mango and more. ...NOW GET ONE LIKE IT Prince Harry's former nanny Tiggy Legge Bourke was among the 25 guests at the private event in Windsor today, sparking speculation she could be one of Archie's godparents In the main picture, Archie is flanked by three of his proud grandparents, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Meghan's mother Doria Ragland. At the centre of the image the world can, for the first time, see Archie's face clearly and discover how much he resembles his father at the same age. Archie's uncle and aunt, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are in the forefront of the shot with the Duchess wearing a scene-stealing, coral-coloured Stella McCartney dress. Its demure pussy cat bow does little to divert attention from her above-the-knee skirt and the ruby-red stiletto heels which match her fashionable satin headband. The Duchess of Sussex chose bespoke Dior for the day, reaching for white, the statement colour she favours. Prince Harry and Meghan paid tribute to Archie's grandmother Diana today by sitting on the same green and gold seat that was used for Harry's christening pictures. Pictured is Princess Diana with baby Harry on a single seat from the same set The final two members of the formal Green Room line-up are there in honour of Diana, Princess of Wales: they are her sisters, Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, who Harry sees as equal keepers of his mother's memory. The second christening photograph released by Meghan and Harry is the kind of arty, black-and-white shot on which they have built their Instagram empire of 8.8 million followers. Taken in the Rose Garden at Windsor moments after the religious ceremony, it is the work of Chris Allerton, the former soldier who was also the couple's wedding photographer. The release of both pictures marks a softening of the stance of the Duke and Duchess, who had hoped to keep details of the day private. They have chosen not to release the names of Archie's godparents. They made their way with their son from Frogmore Cottage, their home in the grounds of the Queen's Windsor estate, shortly before noon for the low-key ceremony. Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall had arrived on helicopter of the Queen's Flight at 10am, while the Cambridges left Kensington Palace and drove themselves, William at the wheel, and in through the back gates of the castle. The Queen had wished to attend but was headed to a prior engagement at Sandringham after a trip to Scotland, where she had been celebrating Holyrood Week. The Royals were joined by guests from the couple's close circle of friends, including Harry and William's former nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke, Meghan's old university friend Genevieve Hills, and the Duchess's great confidante, the fashion designer Misha Nonoo. The choir of St George's Chapel who sang at Harry and Meghan's wedding, also sang at Archie's christening, and then the party, believed to number around 25, celebrated with tea and a slice of the couple's wedding cake – made by fashionable East London baker Claire Ptak – which had been frozen and saved for the occasion. |
