January the Twoth

Good afternoon! It's still morning here for another few minutes, but it's afternoon everywhere else except Hawaii.

It was -16.8 degrees at 10 a.m., according to the wunderground.com station up the street from me. It has risen to -15.3 at 11:40, so welcome the heat wave!

I've been out to Wally World & Sportsmans' Warehouse this morning. The wife's car, which I don't drive very often, was sounding an intermittent alarm about low brake fluid. While refilling the reservoir in the parking lot, my quickly-numbing fingers dropped the lid into the dark depths of the engine compartment. That's when I discovered there's no flashlight in her car.

Oh, we have one, which I bought for her while we were in Florida. And you betcha, it's still in my truck.

I muttered a quick, "Lord, please help me find this thing" as I was looking under the car (nothing on the ground, thank goodness - I'd have had to jack up the car to get underneath, and I was in a down parka which would NOT have liked the rock-and-ice surface. And since it was -16 or so, I didn't want to lay down in my shirt, either.

So while I was peering into the darkness, a lady pulled up next to me and asked if I needed a light. I did, she produced a flashlight, and I found the lid with just a little searching. Prayer answered!

My primary purpose in choosing those two destinations was seeking a pouch for the spare magazine for my pistol. Wally World had an Uncle Mike's nylon-and-velcro pouch for $16.49, but it's black & my holster is brown. Maybe not a big deal, but I wasn't going to give up on the first try.

So on to Sportsman's Warehouse, across the road. They had a nice brown leather Bianchi mag pouch to match my holster, but wanted $33.99 for it. I'll sew my own from one of my wife's old purses. I used to sew moccasins, so how hard could a little clip be?

That sounds like the subject of a future post, doesn't it? Famous last words, I'll bet.

That's about all I've got this morning, so excelsior! and enjoy the day. Be blessed, friends, and we'll 'chat' again later.
